bans and confiscates a novel that
tells the story of refugees in
Hammarkullen
!
The Egyptian newspapers,
entitled "al-Dostour" reported
on 7th July 2008 that the Islamic
Research Academy in Cairo - which is
considered the highest religious
authority in Al-Azhar - had decided
to ban and confiscate a number of
books, including a novel "Dancing on
the Water – Hard Dreams" issued in
Beirut / 2006( ISBN : 9953-36-830-9
) , by the Iraqi writer Mahmoud Al-Bayaty
residing in Sweden
.
The decision (which was taken at the
Academy's meeting on 5th July 2008),
considered the book as a poetry book
banning it under the pretext that it
"contains poems which constitute
indecent assault on morality."
The decision included books by
research groups such as the one
entitled " Insight into The Events
of Gaza ", " Chapter in the History
of Discourse Ibn Al-Khattab was
Killed" by the writer Abu Hussein
Khojini, "Reply Indicated the Sufi
Falsehood " by Said Ramadan Bin
Saleh and "The Scimitar and the
Veil: Extraordinary Women Of Islam"
by Jennifer Heath
